Dataset metadata
From TrustLet, a free, collaborative project for collecting and analyzing information about trust metrics.
moved from the community portal.
What metadata will be needed for every dataset?
- Original title
- TrustLet title
- Source (organization, website, contact info, permissions info, misc not covered by specific fields
- Date(s):range, fixed/growing, date acquired by TrustLet,
- Trust metrics ON the data source, the data itself, confidence in the security of transmission and translation to TrustLet and TrustLet standard data elements.
- Format of the source data (lots of possibilities here)
- form/process of data transfer
- Status of the dataset
- Referenced in TrustLet
- Request for import
- In Discussion for import
- Selected by TrustLet for import
- Cleared by both parties (source and TrustLet) for import
- raw import
- initial conversion into database
- data cleaned and verified
- converted to Standard TrustLet Data Elements
- available for research use
- currency of data (up-to-date, out-of-date, obsolete, replaced by/replacing
- What trust categories the data fit into/cover/are valid for (...more on this later/in another area...)
- Which researcher requested inclusion
- importer
- Which researcher converted to ...x,y,z
- Which researcher used
- What metadata will be needed for some datasets
- Which researcher used for accepted paper (thesis, online or regular journal), and reference to the paper
This is a great page of great ideas! Maybe we could use it to create a template for the datasets? --PaoloMassa 09:19, 17 August 2007 (PDT)
